Located less than an hour south of Tampa on the west coast of Florida, Manatee County is named after the gentle marine mammals that inhabit its coastal waters. The county covers an area of 892 square miles and has a population of around 400,000 people. The county seat is Bradenton, and the largest city is Palmetto.
